Happy Birthday Momma!

Today is the one and only Bethers Birthday! She is such a wonderful mother and is continually teaching me. Throughout the years I have learned the following from my mother.

…to read

…to love God

…to work

…to clean {even though I don’t do it enough}

…to be independent

…to be confident

…to speak up

…to grind wheat and make flour

…to take afternoon naps on my pink blankie

…to swim

…to dry off in the sun after swimming

…to run

...to be a feminista

…to cook

…to like cashews in ice cream

…to pick raspberries in the yard

…to drive

…to go to the bathroom outside {I had to learn somehow}

…to tough things out when I want to quit

…to sacrifice

...to love Shirley Temple

…to serve

…to have “Feminine Mystique”

…to have spunk

…to try new things

…to believe in public education :)

…to teach

...to be generous without intention

…to plan

…to weed

…to exaggerate stories, so that they are more exciting

…to study

…to use my imagination

…to go on dates with my husband

…to dance in the streets after musicals

…to love poached eggs, cracked wheat, broccoli and cauliflower

…to love the arts

…to always spend time with your family

…to trust that everything will always be okay

…to remind my husband how lucky he is to have me

…to make lasting friendships

…to be sassy

…to laugh out loud

…to be innovative

...and so much more...

Happy Birthday MOMO! We hope you are having a wonderful day, and actually taking some time to relax. We love you more than anything and couldn't imagine life without your spunk and generosity. We can’t wait to see you tomorrow and we will bring a real cake! Love you.

I love that you wrote this at the stroke of midnight when you could be out buying Harry Potter. I cried when I read your blog and relived all the memories that flooded through my mind. I love you and Oliver--Carly,you are a fantastic writer, unique and creative. Perhaps, you could write and I could be your editor!
