Oliver and I have had to make an unexpected decision this past weekend, we are moving...and it is into an interesting location. Oliver was offered a job and we couldn't turn it down, he is going to be the new manager of one of his father's carwashes. He will be in charge of all of the accounting and marketing, along with all of the duties that he has right now in his current position. This job comes with a free apartment above the carwash. So I am taking one for the team, and moving out of our beloved downtown apartment into a carwash in Layton. That is right my friends, not only am I moving North -- past the border of Kaysville (gasp) -- but I, Carly Johnston Young, will be living West of the interstate, in an apartment, above a carwash, that sits in the Wal-Mart parking lot. "Why am I doing this?" you ask, for a little thing I like to call --> The Almighty Dollar. We will be able to make and save a lot more money. In order to cope with the upcoming changes and moving into the Ghetto, I have made a list of "Pros" and "Cons;" here we go:
*
Pro: upon exiting the grocery store (in this case Wal-Mart), I will be able to push my shopping cart directly to my front door.
Con: It is actually possible to push my shopping cart to our front door.
*
Pro: I will always have a clean car.
Con: I have no excuse for having a dirty car.
*
Pro: There is plenty of parking.
Con: I will be living in a parking lot.
*
Pro: Our apartment will be newer & larger, and it includes such amenities as a dishwasher, washer, and dryer.
Con: There will be no more dropping the dirty clothes off at my mom's house and picking the clean clothes up a week later -- and yes, I actually do that.
*
Pro: Oliver will not have a commute to work, he simply rolls out of bed and he is there.
Con: I will have to sit in traffic for multiple hours per week...I hate driving to SLC during rush hour.
*
Pro: More money in our savings account each month plus 5% interest yearly equals, a good solid foundation
Con: We live in Layton and there isn't any good shopping -- WHATSOEVER, but thank Heavens for FeDEX.
*
Pro: Closer to most of our family.
Con: Farther away from all of our friends, and when I said this...Oliver reminded me that I don't have any friends.
*
Pro: There is a Bajio in our front yard too, so maybe Brad will come and visit us.
Con: Maeve's exact words were: "Well, don't expect me to come and visit, I never go there." Thanks Maeve, I will just cry in my carwash alone.
*
Pro: There will be more opportunity to serve in our new ward.
Con: We will have to leave the luxury of attending the beautiful Joseph Smith Memorial Building and being in the same ward as the prophets. We will also have to attend a chapel that most likely will have carpet on the walls.
*
Pro: Change is always pretty exciting to me.
Con: Packing, Moving, Hauling, Un-Packing, Living in clutter, is hands down the worst thing in the entire world.
*
Pro: There is a really nice Gym in Layton called Performax.
Con: There really isn't much to do in Layton, except go to the gym.
*
Pro: The longer we live in the carwash, the closer we are to the day that we buy our Ranch on 300 acres, in a canyon, close to a ski resort.
Con: There is nothing wrong with that, that day will be one blessed day.

Carly! I love this. You always make me laugh so hard (the carpet on the walls comment almost killed me). It was great to see you guys while in town and I'm happy you're one step closer to your dream. I'll send my fam and their cars your way. xoxo
P.S. Please take a picture.

Deal, and deal Kels...while I am washing your car and shampooing your carpets, you can get all of your weekly needs at Wal-Mart and then stop at our neighbor's (Starbucks) and pick yourself up a Steamer or maybe a Carmel Apple Cider.
Sweet! I'm excited for you guys and your bargain adventure. Ty and I will come up to visit....at least once :)
Oh Carly...Randy and I are just laughing at your blog. It just kept getting better...in Layton, living above a carwash and then in a walmart parking lot. It may just be lots of pain meds I am on right now, but this just doesn't sound like you! I am so proud! lol What a trooper you are. I am sure you will look back and be so thankful for all that you saved. good luck and we will come to see you...but I am sad I never saw your cute SL apartment.
LOL! Carly you are so funny! This is my favorite blog I have ever read! It will be some great memories for you two and funny stories to pass on the rest of your life!
This does not top our close friends who lived in Deseret Mortuary and when we came to visit, Mike had to help Tom pick up bodies!!! This is good for you Carly and besides you get to live with me in the time between the two places. I love having you so close.
Carly! I have been laughing out loud! You are so funny! You will be so close to us so hopefully that will be a pro because we would love to have you over for dinner anytime I cook!:)
Carly here are some additional pros and cons.
Pro: I can park my RV in front of your house for free!!!!
Con: I will have to move it once a week to empty the john.
Pro: No grass to mow
Con: Need to buy a pressure washer to clean the parking lot.
Pro: You can cry in your car wash and no one will know.
Con: Your crying in your car wash and no one will know.;(

Carly
Well.....I will have to honk, salute or stop by next time I go to Walmart. I don't go very often because I hate the parking lot. Sometimes I go to Walmart, drive around the parking lot and then just talk myself out of going in and go home. Now....I have a reason to stay.
I actually like the Layton Walmart! I mean if you have to like Walmart that is the one to go to. It is much cleaner and more organized than the SLC one...which I hate!!
Maybe I will make a stop in. My car can always use a wash.
Macy
You're too much Chuck. You make me laugh.
Carly, this made me laugh. I do love it! I want to come see your place when you get in there! Either way lets do something soon!
