Grandma Glo, Bettie Jane (BJ), Sophie, and Aunt Betty (grandma's best friend)
Grandma Glo passed away early this morning with Julie by her side. It is a little weird to think that she won't be at anymore Sunday dinners, family events, or holidays. She was always the center of attention, and she loved it. Even in high school everyone knew who Grandma Glo was, she probably was more popular than any of her grandchildren.
I will never forget grandma driving up to our house on Kingston in her white Buick, every single dog in the neighborhood would come running because Glo kept milk bones in her glove box. She loved animals and would squeal every time one came on TV (her favorite were talking animals - she couldn't get enough of them).
Grandma Glo wasn't the grandma that could teach you how to can, sew, plant a garden, or keep a clean house (we had Grandma Bingham for that). Instead she was the grandma that checked you out of school early to take you to the Tiffin Room, made Christmas more magical than Santa could ever dream, sent you roses on your birthday, and thought bald men were sexy. She attended every ballet recital, baseball game, school event, and Nutcracker. She was there for every high school dance, mission farewell, wedding and baby blessing. Glo Bug often ate Cummings Chocolates for dinner, put bouquets of flowers in her toilet bowl when she threw a party, and upon meeting my mother's parents for the first time she danced around in lingerie (seriously).
She was the party grandma. That is exactly what Maeve and I told her as we sat by her bed a few days ago. We told her she was a good grandma, always the fun one, and that we would see her soon. We told her we loved her and gave her hugs. She whispered in our ears that we were sweet and that she loved us too.
I may have not learned the conventional things from my grandma, but there were lessons taught. She taught me to love my husband with everything that I had, the importance of good friends, and that life was meant to be fun. Grandma had a saying 'Make every day a holiday and every night a family night.' She loved celebrating and she loved her family.
I'm sure that Grandma is enjoying her reunion in heaven right now with her mother and her husband. I wouldn't be surprised if she was already throwing a party.

Such a sweet well written tribute. I didn't know Glo super well, but I loved the little I knew. I also knew enough to know that she was my favorite person ever to have Macy imitate in games of psychiatrist. ; ) Seriously, she was such a sweet, vivacious, lovely person that really did seem to make every day a holiday, and everyone's else day one too. I'm sorry for your loss, and hope you all are doing well.
Carly..I just read this while sitting at my desk at work. I have to admit that I'm also sitting here crying. That was beautiful. It also made me wish I had known Glo longer than I did.
